Terms of Service
Last updated: October 10, 2026
1. Who We Are & Acceptance
Mara (withmara.app) is a service operated from Alberta, Canada (“Mara”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account, or by accessing or using Mara — including the account-free public demo — you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service. You must be at least 16 years old to use Mara.
2. The Service
Mara is a travel planning and price-tracking service that monitors the publicly posted prices of travel packages from third-party travel providers. We provide price-history tracking, price-drop alerts by email and in-app notification, a trip planner, and Ask Mara, an AI assistant that answers questions grounded in your own trips and tracked price data. Mara does not sell or book travel, and it does not predict future prices. Trip maps and place data in the trip planner are provided by Google Maps; by using them you agree to be bound by Google's Terms of Service (policies.google.com/terms) and the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms of Service (maps.google.com/help/terms_maps/), which are incorporated by reference into these Terms. We may add, change, limit, or discontinue features; a change that meaningfully reduces what you get is treated as an amendment under Section 15.
3. No Affiliation with Travel Providers
Mara is an independent service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or otherwise connected to any travel provider whose prices Mara monitors. Provider names, logos, and brands are trademarks of their respective owners, used here only to identify the third-party websites whose publicly posted prices Mara monitors on your behalf.
4. Price Data — No Guarantees
All prices shown in Mara are collected automatically from publicly available pages. They may be incomplete, out of date, or wrong; they may not reflect taxes, fees, availability, or eligibility requirements; and they are never an offer by us to sell travel — the price shown on the travel provider's own website at the time of booking is the only price that counts. Always confirm the price directly with the travel provider before booking. We also do not guarantee that any alert will be sent, be delivered, or arrive in time for you to act on a price.
5. Ask Mara & AI Output
Ask Mara's responses are generated by artificial-intelligence models and can be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. They are provided for information only and are not travel, financial, legal, or other professional advice. Verify anything important (especially prices, dates, and availability) with the travel provider before acting on it. Stamp illustrations, including the ones Mara draws for you, are made by an AI model and may not match what you wrote.
6. Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. You must provide accurate information when creating an account. One person or entity may not maintain more than one free account.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the service to violate any laws or regulations
- Attempt to access other users' accounts or data
- Interfere with or disrupt the service infrastructure
- Resell or redistribute the service or its data without permission
- Use automated tools to scrape or extract data from the service
- Use the service or its data to build a competing product or dataset, or to train a machine-learning model
- Circumvent usage limits, consent settings, or access controls
- Upload content you don't have the right to share, or that is illegal, sexual, or shows others without their consent
Report a shared page to [email protected]. We may remove content and keep a copy where the law requires.
8. Free Plan, Ads & Usage Limits
Mara is currently in beta. The Free plan is ad-supported: clearly labeled banner ads from Google may be shown, and you can choose to watch optional reward ads to earn extra Ask Mara messages. Paid plans see no advertising. Free use is subject to usage limits — such as the number of active searches, check frequency, and daily Ask Mara messages — which we may adjust over time; a change that reduces what you get is treated as an amendment under Section 15.
9. Paid Plans (Not Yet Available)
Paid subscriptions are not yet for sale, and any advertised Pro or Agency price is a public estimate, not an offer. When paid plans launch: the total price in Canadian dollars, including any mandatory fees, will be shown before you pay; any automatic renewal will be clearly disclosed before you subscribe; you will be able to cancel from your account settings at any time, effective at the end of the period you have paid for; and the refund policy will be stated at signup. These Terms will be updated, with notice under Section 15, before any payment is collected.
10. Your Content
You keep ownership of what you put into Mara: your messages, trip plans, Journal stamps, entries, photos, and videos, and any profile photo. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to host and process that content solely to operate and improve the service. If you create a share link, you are choosing to publish what it shows to anyone who has the URL; you can revoke a share link at any time from the app. Only upload photos and videos you have the right to share. Illustrations Mara draws or provides for your stamps are licensed to you for personal use. The service itself (its software, design, branding, and compiled data) belongs to us.
11. Warranty Disclaimer
Mara is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties or conditions of any kind, express or implied, and we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. Some jurisdictions, including Quebec, do not allow certain warranty exclusions: nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any warranty, condition, or consumer right that applicable law does not permit us to exclude.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the greater of (a) CAD $100 and (b) the amounts you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages or for lost profits. Without limiting the above, we are not liable for a missed, late, or inaccurate price alert, for pricing errors, or for the cost of any trip you booked or did not book in reliance on the service. Nothing in this section excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law — including liability that mandatory consumer-protection law does not allow us to exclude, and liability for our own gross negligence or intentional fault.
13. Indemnity
If your use of Mara in violation of these Terms or of the law causes a third party to bring a claim against us, you agree to compensate us for the resulting losses and reasonable legal costs. This section does not apply where consumer-protection law prohibits it.
14. Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. You may stop using Mara or delete your account at any time from your settings. Upon termination, your data is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may amend these Terms, including the features, usage limits, and — once paid plans exist — pricing they describe. If a change would increase your obligations or reduce ours, we will send written notice to your account email at least 30 days before it takes effect, setting out the new or amended clause and the date it takes effect. You may refuse such an amendment and terminate your account — or, for a future paid plan, cancel without cost, penalty, or cancellation charge — at any time before the change takes effect, by deleting your account or contacting us. Minor changes that do not affect your rights, such as clarifications, may take effect on posting.
16. Governing Law & Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable in it, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. If you live in another Canadian province, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer-protection rules of your home province — including, for Quebec residents, the Consumer Protection Act — and you may bring or defend a claim in the courts of your home province. Before starting any formal proceeding, please contact us at [email protected] and give us 30 days to try to resolve the issue informally. Nothing in these Terms takes away your right to go to court, including small-claims court.
17. General & Contact
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of the service; you may not assign them without our consent. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between us about the service, and our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it. Questions about these Terms: [email protected].
